The host of this site is instructor-trained in various tactical firearms disciplines, including handgun, shotgun, tactical rifle and precision rifle. As a youth, he spent winters in the hills of upstate New York bringing home venison for the family and learning an appreciation for the discipline of arms as well as nature's bounty.
With the intention of pursuing a career as a tactical firearms instructor, he began training at Tacfire in Ventura, CA. To broaden horizons, he traveled to Front Site in Nevada and attended courses with instructors such as John Farnam and Ron Frigulti whose real-world experience and insights have improved the skills of a great many warriors.
It seems that the persistent negative coverage of firearm owners and firearms use in the mass media has affected public 'feelings', with the goal of eliminating shooting ranges and civilian firearms training. This also affects public attitudes towards police officers who are regularly cast as villains by journalists and pundits second-guessing their need to defend themselves when confronted by violent criminals.
The GunTrainers web site is an experiment in public education and persuasion. Our goal is to produce television, radio and print media presenting a fair, positive message promoting firearms training. Distribution will expand as our budget allows and, most importantly, with the help of individual firearms trainers wishing to attract attention to their own services in their locales.
